Myanmar is a sovereign state in South East Asia with a population of 51 million people. The country has a rich avifauna boasting 1,035 species of birds, or 12% of the world’s total, of which 6 species are endemic to Myanmar. Mount Victoria is the highest mountain in the Chin State of western Myanmar and with a height of 3,053 meters above sea level it is one of the prominent peaks of South East Asia, renowned for its colourful rhododendrons, its ethnic tribes tattoo-faced women, as well as its endemic birds namely White-browed Nuthatch and Chin Hills Wren Babbler.
