The Tibetan Plateau is a vast elevated plateau in Central and Eastern Asia, covering most of the Tibet Autonomous Region and QingHai Province in Western China. With an average elevation exceeding 4,500 metres the Tibetan Plateau is sometimes called ‘The Roof of the World’ being 3 miles above sea level, surrounded by mountains, and harbouring the world’s two highest peaks, Mount Everest and K2. The Plateau has plenty of interest too for the birdwatcher including Cranes, Thrushes, Redstarts,Snowfinches, Larks, Tits, and numerous Raptors.
